Talmadge "Catfish" "Bug" Benge

Talmadge "Catfish" "Bug" Benge, 77, of Gastonia, NC, passed away at his home on June 7, 2023.

He was born February 17, 1946, in Spartanburg, SC, to the late John and Ada Benge.

Talmadge was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Lowell, NC.  He loved his family, country, fishing, and wrestling.  He loved his church.  He especially loved his dog, Max.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters, and his best friend, Rodney Overman.

Talmadge is survived by his wife, Bunzie Benge; sons, Shane Benge and wife Rebecca, and Dion Benge; daughters, Andrea Benge, Angela Benge, and Cassie Benge and husband, D.J. Smith; brother, Charles Swaney; sister, Sue; and grandchildren, Ada Benge, Bryan Benge, Brandun Benge, and Keeley Hutchins.

A service to celebrate the life of Talmadge will be held Friday, June 9, 2023, at 3:00 pm at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service, 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia, NC.  Pastor Quinton Thompson will officiate the service.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  Interment will follow the service at Westview Gardens, in Bessemer City, NC.
