Sylvia Rhyne

With a heavy heart, we announce the passing of Sylvia "Sib" Rhyne, who left us peacefully on December 20, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on November 21, 1947, in Charlotte, NC, Sylvia devoted her life to her family and community, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew her.

Sylvia was a loving wife to Jacob Rhyne for almost 61 years and a proud mother to her daughters, Jacqulyn Fish (Scott), and Tina Eaker (Steven). Grandchildren, Reagan Eaker, Brianna Gooch (Mason), and Payton Fish, sisters, Nancy Exline and Cathy Pasour, brother, Gary Lee Hinson (Theresa), and several nieces and nephews. She poured her heart into her role as a homemaker, creating a warm and inviting home filled with love and laughter.

A cherished member of Zion Baptist Church, Sylvia dedicated many years as a Sunday school teacher, nurturing the faith of countless children. Her passion for music was evident in her special singing at church services, and she also loved working with the church youth, sharing her wisdom and kindness.

Her family and friends will gather to celebrate her life at a memorial service at Zion Baptist Church on December 26, 2025. The service will begin at 2:00 PM, following a visitation from 1:00 PM-2:00 PM.

Sylvia's warmth, faith, and spirit will be deeply missed but forever cherished in the hearts of those she touched. We invite all who knew and loved her to join us as we honor her remarkable life.

Sylvia was preceded in death by her mother, Ola Hinson, sister, Rachel McNabb, brother, Charlie Daniel Hinson, brother-in-law, Wayne Exline and stillborns, Darrell Lee Rhyne, and baby boy Rhyne.
