Sybil Spencer Smith

Sybil Spencer Smith, 82, of Gastonia, passed away December 18, 2017 at Peak Resources.

She was born December 22, 1934 in Gaffney, SC, the daughter of the late Clyde Spencer and Flossie Spencer.

Left to cherish her memories are her husband of 68 years, William O. Smith Jr.; daughter, Sybil Ann Burchfield and husband Dock; sister, Nancy Mae Anthony, grandchildren, Joseph and Michael Ledford and Wendell and Brandon Burchfield; great-grandchildren, Jessica Ledford, Levi and Emily Ann Burchfield, Blake, Mackenzie and Nicholas Creaseman.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by grandson, Rodney Williams; sisters Lynelle and Ella Jean Spencer, Mary Spencer Barnes; brothers Eddy and Clyde Spencer.

A funeral service will be held 2 pm Friday, December 22, 2017 at Greene Funeral Service – South Chapel, 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia.

Visitation will be 1 – 2 pm Friday prior to the service at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gaston Hospice, PO Box 3984, Gastonia, NC 28054.
