Susan Ellen Speakes

Susan Ellen Speakes, 71, passed away January 22, 2024, in comfort and peace at Robin Johnson House in Gastonia, North Carolina.

She was born in Brooklyn, New York on June 14, 1952, to the late Charles and Gertrude Valentine. Susan resided in Mt. Holly, North Carolina, where she chose to retire.

A bright, beautiful woman with a creative spirit, Susan enjoyed the outdoors, reading mystery novels, painting with watercolors, and spending time with family and her many close friends.

She is survived by her brother; two daughters; a son-in-law; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A private memorial service will be held in her honor.
