Steve Whisnant

Steve Whisnant, a beloved husband, dedicated professional, and cherished friend, went to be with the Lord on May 17, 2025, at the age of 63. Born on November 21, 1961, in Gaston County, North Carolina, Steve spent his life in Gastonia, where he made a meaningful impact in the community.

As a proud U.S. Army veteran, Steve served his country honorably before finding his calling in the heating and air systems industry. He was the owner and operator of Whisnant Services, providing outstanding service to his customers with the integrity and dedication he was known for. Steve's skills and commitment to his work were admired by many, and he built lasting relationships with those he served. He was easy going, always had a smile, and never met a stranger. Steve had a passion for riding motorcycles.

Steve was a proud member of Ridge Baptist Church in Gastonia, where he found community and purpose. He is survived by his loving wife, Melissa Whisnant, who will forever cherish their time together; his sons, Caleb Whisnant (Mackenzie), Brandon Whisnant (Virag); daughter, Jennifer Whisnant; brother, Danny Whisnant (Terri); grandchildren, Lexi Whisnant, Brantley and Braelynn Murray; beloved dog, Gunner.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate Steve's life. The funeral services will take place at Ridge Baptist Church - 3818 Old York Rd., Gastonia, NC 28056, at 3:00 pm on Saturday, officiated by Pastor Todd Terry and Pastor Troy Beaver. Entombment will follow at Westview Gardens Cemetery with military honors.

The family will receive visitors from 6 - 9 pm on Friday at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service 1503 S York Rd. Gastonia, NC.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents Arnold Sr. and Doris Whisnant; brother, Arnie Whisnant.
