Steve Knox Meredith, known to all as Don, passed away peacefully at his home on July 11, 2023. We have a great peace knowing that he has reached Heaven to see his Savior and beautiful wife.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Kenneth and Brent Meredith, Barbara King, Gregory Melton, Latosha Haney, Jamie Meredith and wife Katie, Amber-Leigh Richmond and boyfriend KJ. His grandchildren, Chris Campbell, Ashley Plemmons, Tyson and Kayleigh Haney, Levi, Jaxson and Tucker Plemmons and Braylen Moss.
Don was born on September 21, 1940, in Clover, South Carolina to Jesse and Dolly Meredith. He served in the Army and spent time overseas serving our country. He was a long-time employee at Homelite, making several trips abroad with the company.
Don was a loving husband to his wife Pheabie, and a committed father to his children and grandchildren. He was a founding member of Charity Independent Baptist Church. He loved the Dallas Cowboys and was proud when the Atlanta Braves won the World Series. Don was a member of the Shriners Society and the Romeo Club-Hardees.
Don was preceded in death by his wife, Pheabie, his mother and father, Jesse and Dolly, sisters Agnes Davis and Faye Davis, brother James Meredith and brother-in-law, Ronnie and Roger Stillwell, daughter Lesia Melton and grandson Gregory Melton.
A funeral service for Mr. Meredith, officiated by Pastors Ronnie Pressley and Zach Plemmons, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 17, 2023, at Charity Independent Baptist Church- 2425 Hillmont St. Gastonia NC 28052. Burial, with military honors, will follow at Gaston Memorial Park. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Condolences may be made online at: www.greenefuneral.com.
