Steedly Eugene "Gene" Hord

Steedly Eugene "Gene" Hord, 80, of Gastonia, was born February 19, 1941, in Gaston County

He went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 1, 2021.

Gene was owner and operator of Hord's Roofing and Construction Company for over 40 years.

He was a member of Parkwood Baptist Church and served as a deacon. He sang in the Adult and Senior Choirs. Also, he was a member of the Berean Growth Group and XYZ. He helped with the children's ministry.

He loved to go fishing and spent many wonderful times at the beach with his loving family. He enjoyed collecting train sets.

The family would like to give special thanks to Gaston Hospice for their loving care of Gene, especially to his nurse Donna Matherly.

Gene is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Vickie Crisp Hord; his beloved daughter, Stephanie Paige Hord of Lowell; his sister, Letricia H. Heffner; his brother, James B. Hord; many nieces and nephews; and his dachshund, "Coco".

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Steedly R. Hord and Bertha B. Hord; his beloved son, Chad Eugene Hord; his brother, Kenneth A. Hord.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Tuesday, December 7, 2021, at Parkwood Baptist Church, 1729 E. Garrison Blvd. Gastonia, officiated by Pastors Jeff Long and David Belle Isle.

The family will receive friends 12:30 – 2:00 pm Tuesday at the church.

Burial will be at Gaston Memorial Park, Gastonia.
