Sonny Grigg

Sonny Grigg, 79, of Shelby, NC, went to be with the Lord surrounded by his family and those whom he loved, Thursday, May 12, 2022, at his residence.

He was born October 5, 1942, a native of Cleveland Co, NC, son of the late Jesse Grigg and Florilla Mildred Green Beverly.

For sixteen years he served faithfully as a missionary to the Tribes of the Lakota Sioux Native Americans in South Dakota, while also branching out into surrounding states and other Native Tribes in need in the area. He loved working hard for the Lord while loving on all the Natives in the surrounding area. He always enjoyed to spend time with his family and especially all his grandchildren. His favorite title definitely was "Pa-paw". You couldn't be in the room with him long without hearing what God has done in his life. If you needed prayer, you got it! He taught us how important God was in our lives, and taught us how to live, love, laugh, and how to stand firm and fight your personal battles.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Arthur Beverly; son, Jeffery Grigg; brother, Paul Grigg; and nephew, Stevie Grigg.

Sonny is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Rhonda Grigg; sons, Jamie and wife Martha Bronczek Grigg, and Justin and wife, Brandy Grigg; daughter, Martha and husband, Jack Masden; brother, Steve and wife, Gloria Grigg; grandchildren, Katie Grigg, Tori Grigg, John Henry Bronczek, Olivia Bronczek, John Wayne Masden, Jeffery Allen Grigg, Mahaylee Cheyenne Grigg, William Jess Grigg, and Jeffery David Grigg; great-grandchildren, Peyton, Micah, Elliot, Aria, and Daenerys; sister-in-law, June Grigg; and former wife, Juanita Grigg.

A funeral service officiated by Pastor Justin Grigg, will be held 4pm, on Sunday, May 15, 2022, at The Way of the Cross Free Will Baptist Church - 875 E Zion Church Rd., Shelby, NC 28150.

Family will receive friends 2-4pm at the church.
