Sidney Ray Wellman

Sidney Ray Wellman, 64 of Gastonia, NC, passed away Tuesday, August 24, 2021, at his residence.

He was born April 8, 1957, a native of Gaston Co, NC, son of the late Ray Gene Wellman and Virginia Davis Wellman.

Sidney attended First Hispanic Free Will Baptist, Lincolnton. He retired from Gaston Memorial Hospital and the City of Gastonia. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Bobby Wellman.

Sidney is survived by his wife, Maira Wellman; son, Timothy Wellman and wife, Samantha; daughters, Elizabeth Bradley and significant other, Will, and Sarah Shepherd and husband, Ray; brothers, Daniel Wellman and wife, Gina, and Rick Wellman and wife; grandchildren, Skylar, Jason, Raja, Jeremy, Nathan, Alex, Ethan and Elaina; stepchildren, Tony Franklin and wife, Meredith, Javier Castillo, Alejandra Castillo, Allan Castillo, and Gabriella Castillo; and step grandchildren, Zailin, Danna, Jimena, Jeyden, Danier, Victoria, and Isabela.

A funeral service officiated by Pastor Dennis Boyce and Lamar Creel, will be held 2pm on Saturday, August 28, 2021, at First Assembly of God - 777 S Myrtle School Rd, Gastonia, NC 28052. Burial will be held at Armstrong Cemetery, Gastonia.

Family will receive friends 6-8 pm on Friday at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service – 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia, NC 28052.
