Shirley Jean Whetstine

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Shirley Jean Whetstine, age 85, who left us on February 5, 2026. Born on October 19, 1940, in Macon County, North Carolina, Shirley spent her life in Kings Mountain, NC.

Shirley was not just a devoted homemaker but a loving mother to her daughters, Ann Shuford (Jeff), Sandra Hampton (Robin), Debbie Eaves (Glen) and son, Gene Whetstine (Misty Moore); grandchildren, Chasty Young (Robert), Kenny Gray (Lawson), Wes Shuford (Olivia), Seth Shuford (Melissa), Chad Hampton (Shannon), Bridgette Scarborough (Kyle), and Cameron Whetstine; great grandchildren, Chloe, Ava, Kennedy, Kix, Easton, Tinsley, Connor, Lincoln, Valerie, Ryder, Rayce, Melodie, Kaysen, and Kolt. She will be remembered for her warm spirit and her unwavering love for green plants, which filled her home with life and beauty. A cherished member of Love Valley Baptist Church, Shirley's faith was an important part of her life, and she touched the hearts of many in her community.

Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate Shirley's life at Love Valley Baptist Church. Visitation will take place on February 11, 2026, starting at 12:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM. Let us come together to honor the memory of a wonderful woman who brought joy and kindness to those around her. She will be laid to rest at Mountain Rest Cemetery, Kings Mountain, NC.

Shirley will be greatly missed but forever remembered in our hearts.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband Johnny Whetstine, parents Henry and Iva Frady.
