Shirley Lee Vernon Hedgepath

Dallas, NC Shirley Lee Vernon Hedgepath, 71, went home to be with the Lord, October 21, 2013, at The Robin Johnson House, Dallas. She was born May 31, 1942 in Gaston County, daughter of the late Johnny Thomas Vernon and Lillie Roof Vernon Crawford. Shirley was a loving person, who adored her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of Horizon Baptist Church, Gastonia. A funeral service will be held 2 pm on Wednesday at Greene Funeral Service, South Chapel, 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia, officiated by Rev. Alvin Melton and Mr. Phillip Kiser. The family will receive friends 1 to 2 pm on Wednesday prior to the service at the funeral home. The interment will follow the service at Long Creek Cemetery, Dallas, NC. She is survived by: her son, Carl Hedgepath and his wife, Cheryl; brothers, Gilbert, Theo, Earl, John O. and John T. Vernon; sister, Mary Jo Tutterow; seven grandchldren and 21 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: her husband, Joe Billy Hedgepath; sister, Thelma Chapman; grandddaughter, Tracy Hedgepath; great grandchldren, Serenity Hedgepath, Austen Hedgepath.
