Shirley Smith

It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother,

great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother Shirley Smith, 86, of Clover, SC on

Sunday, January 29 at Atrium Health Pineville. Shirley was lovingly surrounded by family

as she passed peacefully into the arms of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Shirley Rebecca Wiltrout was born in Somerset, PA on March 12, 1936, to parents, Oscar

and Myrtle Wiltrout. Here she spent her happy childhood with siblings James and Robert

Wiltrout and sister, Betty (Wiltrout) Keyser. In Somerset, Shirley met the love of her

life, Dean Robert Smith (Bob) whom she married on August 2, 1952. Eventually Bob and

Shirley moved to Springville NY where they raised their family of eight children before

moving to Charlotte NC to continue their relationship with the Lord.

Shirley and Bob enjoyed spending time together with their family and friends, traveling,

and attending church activities. They both moved to Clover SC before Bob succumbed to

heart failure at the age of 77 with his devoted and loving wife Shirley at his side. Besides

being a loving and devoted mother and grandmother, Shirley was a Christian, loved the

Lord, and was a member of Restoration Point Church. Shirley was devoted to her pets,

enjoyed scrapbooking, puzzles, reading magazines, watching the Game Show Network, and

talking with her children and grandchildren. She took every opportunity she could to spend

time with her family. She will be sorely missed.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dean Robert Smith;

sister, Betty Keyser; and grandson, Jeremy Gleason.

Shirley was the loved and devoted mother of Gary (Tricia) Smith, Brenda (Jerry) Gleason,

Randy (Christine) Smith, Timothy (Linette) Smith, Tracy (Donna) Smith, Craig (Brenda)

Smith, Mark (Amy) Smith, Holly (Jay) Bilchak; Cherished Grandmother of Jason, Marrah,

Garrett, Jennifer, Shauna, Joseph, Nicholas, Thomas, Christopher, Amy, Heather, Carolyn,

Vanessa, Angela, Jeffrey, Amber, Rebecca, Matthew, Connor, and Carly; and Most Loving

Great Grandmother of Austin, Madyson, Chandler, Trinity, Lennah, Damien, Nathan, Kaylee,

Ashlee, Dylan, Chloe, Brianna, Jack, Cale, Lydia, Aubrey, Otto, Lucas, Brooklyn, Paisley,

Macie, Maddie, and Coleson. Great-Great Grandmother of Malachi, Logan, Noah, Zachary

A celebration of life will be held at a later date in Somerset, PA.
