Shirley Ann Rutledge

Shirley Ann Rutledge, 68, of Gastonia, NC, passed away Sunday, April 6, 2025, at her residence.

She was born April 12, 1956, a native Gaston Co, NC, daughter of the late Thomas and Betty Beam.

Shirley was a US Air Force Veteran, and graduated from Ashebrook High School. She served over seas in Okinawa and she was super proud of that. She was also an officer for American legion post 138 in Tampa, FL. She was the best mom, person and friend anyone could ever ask for, and always went above and beyond for everyone.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, J.T. Beam, Perry Lee Beam, and Billy Beam.

She is survived by her significant other of over 10 years, Edgar Charles Robinson, III; only daughter who had a bond that was unbreakable, Stacey Rutledge; brothers, Ricky Beamn, and Bobbie Beam (Gail); grandchildren, Tylan, Tiana, and Taliyah Gatlin; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A memorial service will be held 6:00pm, Friday, April 25, 2025, at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service - 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia, NC 28052. Family will receive friends after the service at the funeral home. Family is requesting flowers to be sent to the funeral home.
