Shirley D. Hilburn

Shirley D. Hilburn, 72, of Lowell, passed away Saturday, March 19, 2016, at Caromont Regional Medical Center, Gastonia.

She was born March 19, 1944, in Horry County, SC, daughter of the late Gordon and Dorothy Harper Duncan.

Shirley had a heart of gold and would help anyone in their time of need. She was devoted to her family and church and never met a stranger. Shirley was a member of Dallas Church of God.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Larry Duncan and Robert Duncan.

Left to cherish her memories are her husband of 52 years, Norman Monroe Hilburn; son, Mitchell Hilburn, Sr. and wife, Beth; grandson, Mitchell Hilburn, Jr. and wife, Rhonda; brother, Jimmy Duncan and wife, Diane; sister, Bonnie Alexander; grandchildren, Tamara Hice and husband, Joey; Cydney Snipes, Dalton Snipes; and great grandchildren, Liam Hilburn, Nicklaus Hilburn, and Zoey Hice.

The family will receive friends 5-6:45pm before the service at the church.

A funeral service will be held 7pm on Tuesday at Dallas Church of God, 311 S College St, Dallas. Pastor D.R. Shortridge and the Rev. Kenneth Rouse will be officiating.

A graveside service will be held 11am on Wednesday at Gaston Memorial Park, 1200 S New Hope Rd, Gastonia, NC 28054.

Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
