Shirley Montgomery Faires

Shirley Montgomery Faires went home to be with our Lord and Savior, April 23,2022.

Born February 10, 1931, to Clifford and Francis Montgomery, Shirley grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina, and spent most her life in the area.

Shirley is preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Belvin Faires; son in law, Martin Duffy; and her beloved brother, Robert "Bob" Montgomery. She leaves behind two loving daughters, Dianne Duffy of Wilmington, NC, and Debbie Hughes (Mike) of Mt Holly, NC; as well as 4 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Along with a secretarial career, Ms. Faires played the organ at Northside Baptist Church for 20 years, as did her mother before her. She later played for 5 years at Devonshire Baptist Church in Charlotte, NC. Shirley loved the Lord and spent her life serving Jesus Christ and His church with her time, tithe and talents. Her example of a godly woman is a lasting legacy cherished by her family. Shirley loved travel, parties, fellowship and family. Vacationing often included warm locations for swimming and lots of fun!

A memorial service officiated by Pastor's David Mims and Glenn Stevenson, Jr., will be held 3pm on Saturday, April 30, 2022, at Beth Haven Baptist Church – 1783 Beth Haven Church Rd., Denver, NC 28037.

Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes to support Devonshire Baptist Church in Charlotte, NC or Beth Haven Baptist Church in Denver, NC.
