Shirley Montgomery Elliot

Shirley Montgomery Elliott, 78, formerly of Charlotte, went home to be with her Lord, November 30, 2014 after ten years of battling illness and its' complications. She was born February 4, 1936 in Cleveland County, daughter of the late, Rev. P.D. Montgomery and Lottie Childers Montgomery. She is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, William L. Elliott of the home; sons, William Foster and wife, Karyl of Gastonia, William Elliott, Jr. of Gastonia, Thomas Elliott and wife, Kristi of Charlotte, daughters, Sherry and Marla Elliott of Charlotte; grandchildren, Aaron Foster and wife, Shauna, Christina Haywood and husband, Patrick, Steven Elliott, Benjamin Elliott and wife, Sara and Amber Elliott; great-grandchildren, Lyla Grace and Levi Ryan Haywood. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Jack Montgomery of Columbia, SC. A celebration of Shirley's life will be held 1 pm Thursday at Greene Funeral Service South Chapel - 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia, officiated by the Revs. John Barnhardt and Shay Montgomery. Visitation will be 12 - 12:45 pm Thursday prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery - 839 Antioch Rd., Blacksburg, SC 29702. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Gaston Hospice - PO Box 3984, Gastonia, NC 28054. Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
