Sherry Lanette Leatherwood

Sherry Lanette Leatherwood, 69, of Gastonia, passed away August 12, 2022, at Robin Johnson House.

She was born in Mecklenburg County, to the late J.D. Leatherwood II and Frances Beatrice Leatherwood.

Sherry was a faithful Christian and was a wonderful and caring mother. Sherry was a member of Full Gospel Church in Belmont, NC. She was extremely artistic, from painting to jewelry making to name a few.  She was also a beautician for many years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, J.D. (Doug) Leatherwood III and brother-in-law William Turner and a nephew, Doug (Boogie) Stroupe Jr.

She is survived by her son, Ben Henson (Charity), daughters, April Langston (Toby), Marcia Nealey, brother, John Leatherwood (Meredith) and a sister Sylvia Turner; nine grandchildren, Trey, Zack, Hunter Nealey, Justin Cooley, J.C. & Rebecca Langston, Cheyenne, LeeAnn, Kendra Henson; one great-grandson, Samuel Nealey.

A funeral service officiated by Rev. Judd Burnett, will be held on Thursday, August 18, 2022, at 2:00 PM at the South Chapel.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be at Hillcrest Gardens in Mt Holly.

Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, 1503 S. York Rd. Gastonia, NC 28052.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gaston Hospice.
