Shelva Stiles Childers

Shelva Stiles Childers, 78, of Bessemer City, passed away on December 21, 2014 at Alexandria Place Nursing Home, Gastonia. She was born June 5, 1936 in Swain County, daughter of the late Lewis Henry Stiles and Ethel Southard Stiles. Mrs. Childers was a member of Edgewood Free Will Baptist Church, Bessemer City. She loved her family dearly and enjoyed singing. She retired from Wix Filters after 32 years of service. A funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Greene Funeral Service, West Chapel, 216 Archie Whitesides Rd. Gastonia, officiated by the Rev. Robert Sneed. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be at Westview Gardens, Bessemer City. Mrs. Childers is survived by: her husband, Norman West; daughters, Debbie Ray, Lisa Wilson and husband Larry; sisters, Elizabeth Stanley, Lois Shanks; grandchildren, Michelle Smith, Whitney Ghantt, Owen Wilson; great grandchildren, Grace, Phoebe and Charlotte Smith, Samuel Ghantt. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by: her first husband, Owen Neal Childers; brothers, Junior and Thomas Stiles; sister, Iona Burns.
