Shelby Jean Canipe

Shelby Jean Canipe, 85, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 24, 2023.

She was born October 4, 1938, in Gaston County, NC, to the late Marshall Lewis Owens, Sr. and Sally Teague Anderson.

Shelby was a faithful member of Friendly Baptist Church in Gastonia

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Amos Canipe Sr; beloved son, Joseph Amos Canipe Jr.; her brothers, Richard, Ray and Charles Owens, and her sister, Shirley Lewis.

Shelby is survived by her daughters, Melonie Canipe (Bobby), and Myra Canipe; grandson, Joseph Scott Canipe, sisters, Mary Walker, Patricia Bradley; brother Marshall Owens, Jr.; grandchildren, Rebecca Huskins, Tressa Moore, and Patricia Canipe; and twelve great-grandchildren who she loved and cherished.

On Sunday, October 29, 2023, Ms. Canipe will lie in state from 1:00-2:00 pm at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service - 1503 S. York Rd. Gastonia, NC 28052.  A service to celebrate Shelby's life will follow in the chapel of Greene Funeral Service at 2:00 pm.
