Sharon Elizabeth Bowman Wyont

Sharon Elizabeth Bowman Wyont, 67, of Bessemer City passed away September 14, 2014 at Caromont Regional Medical Center, Gastonia. She was born January 17, 1947 in Shelby, daughter of the late S.E. "Doc" Bowman and Laura Morrison Bowman of Cherryville. She spent her early childhood in Valdese. She was a graduate of Cherryville High School and Gardner Webb University. She had recently retired from IDG after many years of service and Shelby Supply Company. She was active with Puett's United Methodist Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir and other church activities. Sharon was active for many years with the community theater in Cherryville and Lincolnton. She enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling, gardening,painting and reading.She was very active in her beloved book club. She was known for her great personality, big heart, sharp mind and wit. She led a full and active life and was loved by so many. A funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 18 at Puett's United Methodist Church, 3009 Puett's Chapel Road, Dallas officiated by Pastor Cliff Wall and Pastor Sarah Underwood. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 6:00-8:30 p.m on Wednesday at Puett's United Methodist Church Family Life Center and the family will be at the home of daughter, Beth York, 1436 Freedom Court Gastonia at other times. Sharon is survived by: her husband, Ralph Wyont; daughter, Beth York; grandsons, Cooper, Parker and Paxton York; brother, James Bowman; sister, Debbie Gantt; niece, Tori Sain and her husband Bradley; their children, Faith and Bowen Sain; nephew, Darrin Kiser and wife Sheena; their son, Grayson; her precious mother- in-law, Ruby Wyont; numerous cousins and friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by: father-in-law, Howard Wyont. Memorials may be sent to Puett's United Methodist Church 3009 Puett's Chapel Rd., Dallas, NC 28034. Arrangements are with the West Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
