Joey Shane Dockery, 61, of Gastonia, NC, passed away Monday, September 9, 2024. A native of Gaston County, he was born on October 18, 1962, to Sherry Maddox McCall and the late Grady Ray Dockery.
Shane was born in Gastonia and a proud Hunter Huss Alumni Class of 1981. Upon graduation, Shane followed in his father's footsteps operating Dockery & Son Superette before opening his own location, Dockery's Superette & Restaurant 2. He continued his career in the food and hospitality industry until he retired in 2020.
Shane loved his Clemson Tigers, New York Yankees and LA Rams. He had a tremendous love for the people and family that he served and ministered to for many years at Calvary Baptist Church.
In addition to his father, Shane was preceded in death by his first wife, Lisa Leagon Dockery.
Shane is survived by his mother and stepfather, Sherry Maddox McCall and John McCall; wife, Kathy; daughter, Shannon and husband Bobby Dellinger; sons, Carson and Logan; bonus daughter, Rebecca and husband Gerod Kimble; grandchildren, Gavin and Gracie Dellinger, and Autumn Kimble; sister, Dee and brother in love Dwain Davis; as well as his nephew and niece Spencer Davis and Blake Glover; along with so many special cousins, family members and friends.
The family will receive friends at Calvary Baptist Church, 3001 York Hwy., Gastonia, NC, 28052, from 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm on Thursday, September 12, 2024, with a memorial service to follow at 6:00 pm, with Dr. Josh Glandon and Pastor Chris Norris officiating.
