Sarah "Jean" Turner Brown

Gastonia, NC Sarah "Jean" Turner Brown, 73, passed away October 7, 2013, at her home. She was born December 9, 1939 in Greenville County, SC, daughter of the late Claude Wesley Turner and Daisy Jeanette Wix Turner. Jean was a very loving mother and grandmother, who was known as "Maw Maw" to all the children in the neighborhood. She enjoyed gardening and working outdoors. Mrs. Brown was employed at Homelite for 24 years, and after that was employed at the Cookson Company for 16 years and retired in 2004. A service of remembrance will be held 2:30 pm on Thursday at Greene Funeral Service, South Chapel, 1503 S. York Rd. Gastonia, officiated by Rev. Leon Humphrey. The family will receive friends from 1:00- 2:15 pm Thursday, prior to the service at the funeral home. The interment will follow the service at Gaston Memorial Park, Gastonia. She is survived by: son, Jeff Brown and his wife Mary of Clover; daughter, Jelena Jones and her husband Jamie of Gastonia; brothers, Bob and Bill Turner; grandchildren, Mitch Brown, Justin Brown, Kaleigh Jones; great grandchildren, Justice and Mason Brown. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: her husband of 41 years, Junius Junior Brown; sisters, Mildred Turner, Margaret Nalley, Doris Morton, Mary Kent Sheets.
