Sandra "Sandy" Joyce Goodson Garcia

Sandra "Sandy" Joyce Goodson Garcia, 67, returned to her heavenly home on Sunday, March 26, 2017 at the Robin Johnson House, a peaceful and caring home, provided by Gaston Hospice in Dallas, NC.  Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her throughout her life and ultimately gave her peace.

Sandy was born January 20, 1950 to James L. Goodson and Marietta Clinton, in Waynesville, NC.  She was a member of the Second Baptist Church in Cherryville, NC, where she was active in the Mother's Class and Happy Hearts of Second Baptist.  Her faith was strong and was the backstop of the life she lived.  Sandy was a caregiver at heart.  From the raising of her two children, to her 30 year career as a Nursing Assistant in the New Jersey Veterans Memorial Home, Vineland, NJ, she was always taking care of somebody, putting other people before herself.   She was kind and soft-spoken, and always had time to answer a question, lend a hand, or offer advice no matter how small.  She is dearly missed by her loved ones, who celebrate the fact that she is at peace with her creator.

Sandy was blessed with a loving family.  She was preceded in death by her father James L. Goodson and her daughter Betty Sue Shaffer.  Sandy is survived by her husband of 14 years Wilson Garcia;, her mother Marietta Clinton and step father David, her son JC Broyles, two brothers Ronnie D. Shuler and Danny L. Goodson, one sister Joyce L. Roper and seven grandchildren.

There is a celebration of life service being held in Sandys honor on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at 11:00 am at Second Baptist Church, 201 N. Houser Street, Cherryville, NC 28021.  The Reverend Jerry Lail will officiate the service.  In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations and memorials be made to the Mother's Class and Happy Hearts of Second Baptist at Second Baptist Church.
