Sandra Wiggins Green

Sandra Wiggins Green, 80, of Gastonia, passed away peacefully at her home on September 22, 2024.

She was born in Ebenezer, SC, on January 6, 1944; to the late Clyde and Gay Wiggins and also raised and nurtured by the late Mary Wiggins.

Sandra was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was employed by Jackson and Smith Investment Securities, LLC, for over 53 years. She was a devoted member of Olney Presbyterian Church, serving as a Deacon, Elder, and Member of the Session. She was a loyal member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority since 1987 holding numerous offices during her membership.

For her 80th birthday this past January, her grandchildren were asked to submit words to describe her. Those words were beautiful, selfless, tender, unconditional love, benevolent, sweet, amazing, altruistic, kindhearted, and strong.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband and love of her life, John Max Green; second husband, Rudy Cannon; daughter, Hope Rena Green; sisters, Pat Huffstetler, Myra Wiggins, Loretta Tally, and Teresa Simmons; and step-brother, Larry Brittain.

Sandra is survived by her daughter, Beverly Green Branch; grandchildren, Johnathon Max Russ (Chelsea), Joshua Lejon Branch (Ondrea), Allison Featherston Philbeck (Patrick), and Corey Douglas Branch (Sierra); great-grandchildren, Karli, Jaxon, and Lincoln; brothers, Frank Wiggins and Chris Wiggins; sister, Linda Collins; and step-brothers, Ronnie Brittain and Dean Brittain.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at 1:00 pm, at Olney Presbyterian Church, 251 Olney Presbyterian Church, Gastonia, NC 28056. A service to celebrate Sandra's life will follow the visitation at the church at 2:00 pm.
