Sandra Jones Brittain

Sandra Jones Brittain, 72, of Mt. Holly, NC, passed away Thursday, August 26, 2021.

She was born October 20, 1948, a native of Gaston Co, NC, daughter of the late Posey Garfield Jones and Evelyn Barnes Jones.

Sandra loved and grew up in McAdenville.  She spoke often of all the fond memories as a child and growing up there.  She thought so much of it that she decided to create a book to share all the memories of everyone that lived there (McAdenville Memories).  She graduated from Holbrook High School in 1966 and was noted as the "Neatest Dressed".  Upon graduation she went to work in the office for Pharr Yarns and later moved to LCI Corporation in Charlotte where she met many life long friends and even learned to speak some German. She was also well known for her involvement in politics as a strong conservative Republican.  She helped many people get elected and fought to keep opponents from getting elected.  She was very strong willed and passionate in everything she did.  Most of all she loves God and loved to sing praises for him as a member of Zion Baptist Church in Gastonia.  She loved her family dearly including her "grand puppy" Fenway whom she loved to keep for sleepovers. She will be sorely missed by all of her family and life long acquaintances.

She is survived by her son, Todd Brittain and wife, Susan; brothers, William and Gerald; sisters, Phyllis, Patricia, and Nellie; and grandchild, Nathan Brittain.

A funeral service officiated by Rev. Leo Kuykendall, will be held at 6:00 pm on Sunday, August 29, 2021, at Zion Baptist Church - 2437 Propst St, Gastonia, NC 28056.  The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at the church.

Private entombment will be held at Gaston Memorial Park Mausoleum, Gastonia.
