Samuel Owen Duncan

Samuel Owen Duncan, a proud member of McAdenville Wesleyan Church for over six decades, passed away peacefully at home on November 16, 2024. Born in Gaston County North Carolina on March 28, 1932, Samuel was known for his love of fishing, strolls on nature trails, his friendly nature, and willingness to help others. He cherished his family deeply and always enjoyed striking up conversations with everyone he met.

A US Army veteran who served during the Korean War, Samuel held the rank of Private First Class in the 45th Division MP Co. and the 728th MP Co. 8th Army. His dedication and service to his country will always be remembered.

He is survived by his daughters Lisa Whitt (Robert), Karen Hudgins (Jerry), and Linda Smith (Steve); son Johnny Howard (Kathy); sister Elsie Loftin (Leonard); brother Howard Duncan; grandchildren Leslie Foulk (Lance), Dayna Johnston (Jason), Justin Hudgins (Ashley), Brooke Hudgins, Tyler Smith, and Kayla Hudgins; great grandchildren Taylor Foulk, Campbell Foulk, Kathryn Johnston, and Callan Hudgins; sister in-law Joyce Duncan; who will miss him dearly.

Funeral services for Samuel will be held at McAdenville Wesleyan Church 300 Wesleyan Dr. McAdenville at 2:00 pm Thursday, November 21, 2024, with Pastor Josh Baker, officiating. A visitation will take place from 1:00 pm until 1:45 pm, prior to the service. He will be laid to rest at Gaston Memorial Park with military honors by the US Army and Gaston County Honor Guard.

Samuel will be fondly remembered for his kindness, dedication, and love for his family. May he rest in peace.

Samuel was preceded in death by his wife Aline Duncan; daughter Lynn Duncan; parents Prosey and Fronie Duncan; brothers Otis, Earl and Daniel Duncan.
