Samuel B. Cannon, Sr., 76, passed away April 28, 2014 at Carolina's Medical Center, Charlotte. He was born January 11, 1938 in Crofton, KY, son of the late Roger Logan and Illa Maude Cannon. Samuel was a loving husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed outdoor activities, such as fishing and hunting. He also was a fan of the Atlanta Braves and all UK Basketball. Samuel was a member and served as a deacon, choir member with the building & grounds and Long Range Planning Committee of Fairview Baptist Church in Gastonia. He served on Board of Directors for Flynn Fellowship Home in Gastonia. He was employed with M&M Electric in Gastonia for over 38 years. He is survived by: his loving wife of 57 years, Joan Cannon; son, Barney Cannon and wife, Melissa; daughter, Beverly Potter; sisters, Joyce Farnsworth, June Carneal, Delores Fleming, Carolyn Page, Jane Bowman, Linda Cannon and Sharon Criss; grandchildren, James Cannon and wife Ashley, Chris Black and wife, Megan, Marcus Black and wife, Caroline, Samantha Black; great-grandchildren, Gabrielle and Lucas Black, Cameron and Carson Cannon. In addition to his parents his was preceded in death by his brother, Jimmy Cannon and great-grandson, Tristen Black. A celebration of life service will be held 3 pm on Friday at Fairview Baptist Church 1706 W Davidson Ave, Gastonia, officiated by the Revs. Andy Raines and Andy Broughton. Visitation will be 1 - 2:45 pm Friday prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Gaston Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Fairview Baptist Church Building Fund -1706 W Davidson Ave, Gastonia, NC 28052 Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service - South Chapel - 1503 S.
