Rev. Sam Henry Robbins

Gastonia, NC Rev. Sam Henry Robbins, 79, died peacefully at home on October 29, 2013, surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 12, 1933 in Henrietta, NC, son of the late Claude Dewey and Sallie Kate Norman Robbins. Rev. Robbins devoted 53 years as Pastor of two churches, one for 33 years and he served from September of 1993 until January of 2013 at Charity Independent Baptist Church, when he had to resign because of his declining health. He worked at the Reeves Brothers Osage Textile Plant in Bessemer City for several years as the card room supervisor. The family will receive friends 6 to 9 pm on Friday at Greene Funeral Service, South Chapel, 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia. A funeral service will be held 11 am on Saturday at the funeral home, officiated by Rev. Bruce Pope, Rev. Marshall Owens Jr. and Rev. Robert Ammons. The interment will follow the service at Evergreen Cemetery, Belmont. He is survived by: his loving wife of 62 years, Oimelee Robbins; children, Kathy Nichols and spouse, Nicky of Bessemer City, Rebecca Robbins of Elberton, GA, Stephen Mark Robbins and spouse, Windy of Gastonia; grandchildren, Bryan and Matt Nichols of Bessemer City, Markecia Corum and spouse, Randy of Morristown, TN, Keith Robbins of Demorest, GA, Blaine and Gus Robbins of Dahlonega, GA; great grandchildren, Aimee, Tripp and Cole Robbins of Demorest, GA; sister, Modean Gipson of Gastonia; brother, Covie Robbins and spouse, Connie of San Antonio, TX, Wayne Robbins of Clover; sister in-law, Patricia Robbins of Gastonia; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Clifford O'neal Robbins. Memorials may be made to Gaston Hospice, P. O. Box 3984, Gastonia, NC 28054.
