Ruth Naomi Sweeten

Ruth Medford Sweeten, 96, of Gastonia, NC, passed away peacefully at Belaire Nursing Facility on Friday, March 7, 2025.

She was born in York, SC, on November 20, 1928, to the late Melvin and Annie Medford.

Ruth was a faithful member of Ridge Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir for many years. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She loved the Lord with all her heart.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Edward Sweeten; sisters, Betty Sweeten, Barbara Stacey, Letha Medford Gibson; brother, James Blair Medford.

Ruth is survived by her daughters, Alesia Pelton (Mark), Linda Taylor (Daniel); two grandsons, Anthony Taylor, Brandon Taylor; great-grandchildren, Blake, Kaydence, Dylan, Quinn; one brother, Paul Medford (Paula); grand kitty, Hannah.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 12, 2025, 1:00 PM, at Ridge Baptist Church, 3818 Old York Road, Gastonia, NC.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at Gaston Memorial Park.
