Ruth Smith Greene

Ruth Smith Greene, 72, of Gastonia passed away July 17, 2013 at Caromont Regional Medical Center, Gastonia. She was born October 2, 1940 in Lincoln County, daughter of the late Jim and Ira Crouse Smith. A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Saturday at Greene Funeral Service, South Chapel, 1503 S. York Rd. Gastonia, NC 28052 officiated by Pastor Jerry Taylor. The family will receive friends from 7:00 -9:00 pm Friday at the funeral home. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Belmont. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and loved her grandchildren; they were her life and pride. She also had a sense of humor. She is survived by: her husband of over 36 years of the home, Larry Greene; son, Robbie Townsend of Gastonia; brothers, Ralph Smith of Lincoln County, Jerry Smith of Catawba County; grandsons, Cody and Jesse Clary of Gastonia. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her: daughter, Wendy Clary; brother, Calvin Smith. Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
