Russell "Sid" Sidney Correll

A great man went to be with the Lord. Russell "Sid" Sidney Correll, 69, of South Gastonia, went to be with the Lord on August 15, 2015. He was born March 8, 1946 in Crowders Mountain, son of the late Frank John Correll and Flonnie Cash Correll. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann Morrison Correll; sister, Martha Jean Correll Cantrell; and brothers, Roy Correll and Paul Correll. Sid was a brick mason and owned a landscaping business. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church. Mr. Correll is survived by his sons, Rusty Correll of the home, Todd Cloninger of Hickory; daughters, Shelley and Marta Correll, both of Gastonia, Alisa Goble; sisters, Rita Correll of Gastonia and Sally Parton of Bessemer City; brothers, Alvin Correll of Gastonia and Tommy Correll of Bessemer City; granddaughters, Elizabeth Correll and Taylor Correll; grandsons, Devon Correll and Treyshell Jackson; aunts Kay Hall and Jenny England; his girlfriend, Elaine McClure Padgett and their daughter Stephanie McClure Viars; friends, Matthew Anderson, Jerry and Jessica Flup, Betty and Chief, Crazy Jerry Pate, Casper Robinson, Joann Haney, Deborah Bostic and Kim Carter. The family would like to extend a special thanks to home healthcare nurse, caregiver, and friend, Nancy Anderson; and nurses, Jackie Price and Lisa Bowman for the loving care they gave to Sid. A funeral service will be held 2 pm Thursday at Temple Baptist Church, 701 Littlejohn St., Gastonia, officiated by Pastor Scott Whitener. The family will receive friends 6 - 9 pm Wednesday at Greene Funeral Service - South Chapel - 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia. Interment will be at Gaston Memorial Park. Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
