Russell "Rusty" Richard Jr.

Russell "Rusty" Richard Jr., age 66, of Cherryville, passed away Saturday, February 28, 2015 at the Kings Mountain Hospice House. Son of the late Russell Walker Richard Sr. and Opal Harwell Richard, he was born March 11, 1948 in Lincoln Co., NC. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Teresa Scronce. Rusty was formerly employed with Sonoco and was retired from BCP Home in Ranlo Mr. Richard is survived by his fiancée Linda Summitt of Cherryville; daughter, Melinda Fail and husband Chris of Cherryville; stepdaughter, Angela Hensley and husband Danny of Cherryville; sister, Patricia Propst and husband Ted of Lincolnton; brothers, Robert Richard and wife Dorothy of Lincolnton, Dwight Richard of Cherryville, Donald Richard of Lincolnton, Alan Richard and fiancée Angie Hubbard of Lincolnton; grandchildren, Matt, Luke, and Bobby; six great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. A memorial service, officiated by Pastor Barry Philbeck, will be held 6 pm Monday, March 2, at Greene Funeral Service, South Chapel, 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia. The family will receive friends at the funeral home after the service. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Kings Mountain Hospice, 321 Kings Mountain Boulevard, Kings Mountain, NC 28086. Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
