Ruby Elizabeth Mullis

Ruby Elizabeth Stephens Mullis, 91 of Gastonia, NC passed away Sunday, July 24, 2022, at her residence.

She was born October 24, 1930, in Lincoln Co., NC to the late Sheldon Davis Stephens and Vida Mae Neal Stephens.

In addition to her parents, Ruby is preceded in death by her brother, Hubert Black, son, James Paul Mullis and great-granddaughter, Ruby Adeline Lawing.

Left to cherish her memories are her son, David Allen Mullis and wife Theresa "Sue" of Gastonia, daughter in law, Lydia C. Mullis of Gastonia, three grandchildren: Phoebe Renae Mullis Lawing and husband Benny of Gastonia, Robert Michael Mullis and wife Patty of Boiling Springs, Anissa Michele Mullis Mobley and husband, Everett of Mt. Holly; eleven great-grandchildren, Madison Lawing and fiancé Blake Westbrook, McKayla Mullis Bearden and wife, Katelyn, Andrew Gardner and wife, Kaila, Wesley Mullis, Matthew Mullis, McCoy Lawing, Emmily Mobley, Kylee Mullis, Harper Lawing, Everett "Evan" Mobley III, Elizabeth Mobley and great-great-grandson, Graison Miller Gardner.

Ruby was a precious woman who loved Jesus and her family. She was dedicated and hardworking. She worked during WWII at a cannery in Baltimore, MD. In NC she worked in textiles at various mills, including Firestone and Pharr Yarns. She later established her own business, Mullis Beauty Shop, to be home and raise her two boys. Ruby later worked at Wix Corporation. She was very involved in her church, South Gastonia Church of God. She participated in evangelical sharing through both camp meetings and revivals. Ruby was a breast cancer survivor due to her strong determination and faith in God's healing. God's word and homestyle meals, hearty laughs and giggles filled her home during visits.

A celebration of life service officiated by Pastor Junior Morris will be held Thursday, July 28, 2022, at 11:00 AM at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service, 1503 South York Road Gastonia, NC 28052

A committal service will follow at Gaston Memorial Park. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
