Ruby Corlee Kernea

Ruby Corlee Kernea, 76, of Newton, passed away Friday, August 4, 2017, at Conover Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born September 1, 1940, daughter of the late Eli Gentry Treadway and Edgle Katherine Stiles Treadway.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Kernea; infant daughter, Geraldine; and one brother.

Left to cherish her memories are her children, Teresa Gaddis and husband, Richard, Terry Caldwell and husband, Terry, Gene Blackburn and wife, Betsy, Sheila Huffman and husband, Tony, and Doug Kernea and wife, Susan; one brother, one sister, 11 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren.

A funeral service, officiated by Pastor Joe Heffner, will be held 1pm on Monday, at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service, 1503 South York Rd, Gastonia.

The family will receive friends 6-8pm Sunday at the funeral home.

Entombment will be held at Gaston Memorial Park.

Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
