Ruby Inez Hovis, 78, of Dallas, passed away at Gastonia Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born October 13, 1935 in Gaston County, daughter of the late Michael and Lillian Costner. Inez was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Dallas. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Gastonia Health and Rehabilitation Center for the excellent care given to Inez. During their marriage, Gary and Inez enjoyed endless miles on the road traveling together. A funeral service will be held 11:30 am on Wednesday at Greene Funeral Service - South Chapel - 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia, officiated by Pastor Jonathan Schnibben. Visitation will be held 10:00 - 11:30 am on Wednesday prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Hollywood Cemetery. Inez is survived by her husband, Gary U. Hovis of the home; son, Jerry A. Creasman and wife Helen of Bessemer City, daughters Sharon Ball of Dallas, Terry L. Stephens and husband, Mike of Gastonia, Mary McGinnis and husband, Tim of Dallas; step-son, Jerry L. Hovis and wife Rebecca of Iron Station; sisters, Betty Bumgardner and husband, Bob of Cherryville, Ellen Hardesty of Maryland; 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Arthur D. Creasman; step-son Gary Hovis, Jr. and brother-in-law, Eddie Hardesty.
