Ruby Mcalister Costner

Dallas, NC Ruby McAlister Costner, 95, passed away Sunday May 26, 2013 at the Robin Johnson House in Dallas. She was born in Gaston County NC on July 15, 1917 and was the daughter of the late W. C. and Mamie Pryor McAlister. Ruby was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher and building committee member. She was employed with Belk for over twenty years. A funeral service will be held 2 pm Thursday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church 531 Hardin Rd. Dallas, NC 28034 with the Rev. John Merck and Rev. John Bollinger officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 pm prior to the service at the church. In addition to her parents Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, James Ernest Costner; step-mother, Dezzie Morrow McAlister; brothers, Lawrence, James, Billy Ray, and Bob McAlister; nephew, Jimmy McAlister. She is survived by her daughter and son in-law, Jean and Glenn Dover of Dallas; grandchildren, Samantha Terres and husband Edwin of Belmont, Amy Caraway and husband Robert Scot of Salisbury; sister in-law, Sue McAlister; nephew, Ronnie McAlister; niece, Kathy Hensley.
