Ruby Sams Braswell

Gastonia, NC Ruby Sams Braswell, 74, passed away July 23, 2013, at her home. She was born March 18, 1939 in Gaston County, daughter of the late Jancer Howard Sams and Laura Treadway Sams. Mrs. Braswell was a loving wife and mother, who loved her grandchildren dearly. She was a member of Victory Baptist Church, Gastonia. Ruby retired from Homelite/John Deere after 33 years of service. She loved working in her yard and flower garden. Being an avid gardener she loved gardening vegetables and canning them. A funeral service will be held 1 pm on Friday at victory Baptist Church, Gastonia, officiated by Rev. Rex Adkins. The family will receive friends 6-8 pm on Thursday at Greene Funeral Service, South Chapel, 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia. The interment will be held at Gaston Memorial Park, Gastonia. She is survived by: her loving husband of almost 57 years, James "Marvin" Braswell Sr. of the home; son, James Marvin Braswell Jr. and wife, Tammy Coleman Braswell of Gastonia; daughter, Kristy Humphries and spouse, John of Kings Mountain; sisters, Katherine Zeller of Lawrence, KS, Joy Childers of Gastonia; grandchildren, Mikayla, Zachary, Stephanie, Michelle Davidson; great grandchildren, Caleb, Ethan and Faith; numerous nephews and nieces. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by: son, Stephen Keith Braswell; brothers, Howard, Ralph and Bob Sams; Sisters, Marie Wilson, Becky Long.
