Ruby Belle Smith, 87, of Belmont passed away March 30, 2015 at Peak Resources, Gastonia. She was born August 31, 1927 in Gadsden, AL, the daughter of the late George Arvil and Mary Choat. Ruby was a member of Safe Harbor Church of God in Gadsden, Alabama. She attended East Belmont Free Will Baptist. Left to cherish her memories are daughters, Connie Gordon and husband, C.W. and Sharron Fritts and husband, Steve; grandchildren, Luis Blanco and wife, Tammy, Maria Pickens and husband, Roy, Caroline Odell and Kathlene Odell; great-grandchildren, Brittney Middleton, Raven, Trey and Savanna Pickens, Drew and Nicholas Blanco and great-great grandchild, Danika Middleton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James William Smith and son, David Wayne Smith. A funeral service will be held 7 pm Thursday at East Belmont Free Will Baptist Church - 909 Edgemont Avenue, Belmont, officiated by Pastor Scottie Stewart. The family will receive friends 6 - 6:45 pm prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Rainbow Memorial Gardens, Gadsden, Alabama. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to East Belmont Free Will Baptist Church, 909 Edgemont Avenue, Belmont, NC 28012. Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
