Roy L. Smith

Roy L. Smith, 83, of Lincolnton, NC, passed away Saturday, September 10, 2022.

He was born December 14, 1938, in Gaston County to the late Myrtle Smith.

Mr. Smith was a lifetime member of the Gaston Shaggers. He was an avid golfer and loved to shag to beach music. He loved to visit the beach and the mountains. He loved his family and friends very much. He touched many lives. He will be remembered, loved, and missed for eternity.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Bumgardner Smith, son, Terry Lee Smith, daughter, Gayle Smith Karagias, brother, William Lee Cavander.

Roy is survived by his daughters, Teresa Smith Auten and husband Rick, Suzy Smith Navey and fiancé Shane Green, sister-in-law, Candice Smith, nephew Billy Charles Smith, four grandchildren, Stephanie Nicholson and fiancé Tommy Mitchem, Matthew Bumgardner, Timothy Stewart and wife Starr, Josh Navey and wife Cassie, Jennifer Bumgardner, and husband Colin, four great-grandchildren, Maddox Stewart, Kane Moore, Macy Parker Cook, Chase Parker, two great-great-grandchildren, Cohen and Hadley Mae Cook. He is also survived by Linda Chambers and family.

Visitation will be at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service, Friday, September 16, 2022, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM.

A graveside service officiated by Pastor Leroy Mobley and Billy Charles Smith, will be held, Sunday, September 18, 2022, at 3:00 PM, at Evergreen Cemetery in Belmont.
