Roy Glenn Dickson

Roy Glenn Dickson, Jr. (Sonny), 85, of Gastonia, NC, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at Caromont Regional Medical Center.

A native of Gaston County, he was born December 29, 1939, to the late Roy Glenn Dickson Sr. and Mildred Dellinger Dickson.

Sonny attended Ashley High School and retired from Norwesco. Sonny was a die hard N.C. Tarheels and Washington Redskins fan. He loved old cowboy movies. He was a faithful member of South Marietta St. Baptist Church where he proudly served as an usher until his health no longer permitted him to do so.

In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his only brother, Bob Dickson.

He is survived by his sister-in-law, Johnnie Dickson; niece, Donna McAllister (Ralph); nephews, Timothy Dickson (Tracy), Michael Dickson; great-nieces, Melissa Terry (Derek), MaKenna Dickson, Erin Smith; great-nephew, Justin Dickson; great-great-niece Poppy Mac Terry.

The family would like to thank the Doctors and Nurses on the 5th floor ICU at Caromont Regional Medical Center for their excellent care and compassion.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to South Marietta St. Baptist Church, 911 S. Marietta St. Gastonia, NC 28054.

A memorial service will be held 1:00 pm, Saturday, March 29, 2025, at South Marietta St. Baptist Church - 911 S. Marietta St. Gastonia, NC 28054.
