Roy Dean Davis, Jr., born July 14, 1937, departed from this life on March 6, 2025. He was proceeded in death by his beloved wife of 63 years, Julie, on January 26, 2022. He was also proceeded in death by a younger brother Dennis in 1975, and also by his parents, Roy Davis, Sr. and Geraldine Davis.
Roy grew up in Gaffney SC and worked often in his family's dry-cleaning business. He was a member of the National Guard for nine years. He worked with Duke Power (now Duke Energy) helping to get Allen Plant Steam Station in Belmont, NC online in the early 60s, and then Marshall Steam Station in Terrell, NC. Afterwards, he was employed by both Piedmont Airlines and Eastern Airlines, finally going into Boiler and Machinery Engineering and Inspection. He spent much of his career with Factory Mutual Engineering in Charlotte, NC, but also with other similar companies, such as Kemper, Industrial Risk Insurance, Royal, and AIG. He devoted his career to paper mill and power plant inspections.
Roy is survived by his two children, Kimberly Denise Freeman (Harold) of Belmont, NC, and Bryan Scott Davis (Connie), of Concord, NC. Also surviving Roy are grandchildren Malinda Doyon (Jordan) of Concord, and Bryan Davis (Courtney) of Kannapolis, as well as three great-grandsons, Sutton and Shepherd Doyon and Asher Davis.
Roy will be laid to rest in Clingman Memorial Gardens in Blacksburg, SC. and the services are private
