Rose Marie Autry

Rose Marie Autry, 63, long-time resident of Gastonia, North Carolina, passed away on Saturday, June 29, 2024.

She was born on August 15, 1960 in York County, South Carolina, to Annie Lois Smith and the late William Walden.

Rose was a loving mother and wife who also loved to worship the Lord with the congregation of Salem Baptist Church, where she was social media coordinator, videographer for church services, and part time Sunday school teacher and nursery aide. She also volunteered to update her church's marquee, and she volunteered for Choose Life Ministries, an organization focused on preserving life. She loved to sing, she loved to laugh, and she loved children. If she saw the need, she would be a personal cheerleader. She was a kind and generous person who would give, even when she had very little. She liked to solve puzzles of any kind and collect money and coins from all over the world. She spent much of her free time crocheting items that she would place in shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child, and through her church, she also assisted in processing shoe boxes sent to the warehouse for this program. She was a blessed servant in life, and she will be in Heaven also.

In addition to her father, Rose was preceded in death by her brother Kenneth Ledford.

Left to cherish her memories are her husband Larry Autry, her mother Lois Smith, her 3 children - Danny Autry, Chastity Autry, and Kevin Autry, and a large community of people whose lives she has deeply touched.

A funeral service for Rose, officiated by Pastor Junior Morris, will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, July 6, 2024 at Salem Baptist Church - 1534 Rolling Meadow Lane, Gastonia, NC 28054. A visitation will be held from 1 pm to 2 pm before the funeral service. The graveside service will be held at Gaston Memorial Park.
