High Shoals - Rev. Ronnie Dean Harstin departed this life on May 21, 2014 at his residence. He was born May 19, 1942 in Gaston County; son of the late George and Gladys Harstin. Ronnie was a minister with the Assemblies of God retiring due to illness in July, 2006. He last served as pastor for 16 years at First Assembly of God in Lincolnton, NC. Ronnie served in the United States Air Force from May 1961 until May 1965. Funeral service will be 2 pm on Friday at First Assembly of God, Gastonia, NC officiated by Rev. Lee Russell. Visitation will be 6 - 8 pm on Thursday at Greene Funeral Service South Chapel. Interment will be at Gaston memorial Park. Survivors: Wife of 46 years, Susan Pannell Harstin; son, Troy Dean Harstin of Gastonia; daughters and sons-in-law, James and Lisa Montgomery of Lincolnton; James (Jay) and Traci McCosh of McAdenville. six grandchildren; James "Tyler" Montgomery, Meleah Montgomery, Cameron Dean Harstin, Brooklyn Amanda Harstin, Adeline Susanne Harstin Scott and Mari Elisabeth McCosh. One great-grandson, Carter Louis Montgomery. Sisters; Sadie Barker and husband, the Rev. Johnnie Barker, Vivian Spencer, Betty Quigley and Patricia Robbins. Preceded in death by brothers; Hugh, Bobby and Bynum Harstin. Sisters; Ruth Ruff and Faye Sanford. Memorial donations may be made to Gaston Hospice, PO Box 3984, Gastonia, NC 28054 Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
