Ronnie Elkins

Ronnie "Paw Paw Doug" Elkins, 75, of Gastonia, NC, passed away at his home on January 16, 2026.

Ronnie was born in Gaston County, NC on June 22, 1950.

Ronnie served his country in the United States Army. He is a Vietnam Veteran. He was an owner/operator of his own trucking company. He enjoyed old westerns and car shows. He loved to say, "I heard that...". Ronnie adored his step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren. He always made sure they had a great Christmas.

In addition to his parents, Ronnie was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Elkins; sister, Sue; and step daughter, Kristy Farley.

Ronnie is survived by his step-son (was raised as a son by "Paw Paw Doug") Michael "Scott" Walls (Lisa); a brother, Nathan "Nip" Elkins (Linda); four step-grandchildren, Michael Farley, Ashley Walls White (Zakk), Matthew Walls, and Jacob Walls (Brittany); four step-great-grandchildren, Bertie, Ernie, Teddy, and Aggie White.

A memorial service, officiated by Rev. Johnny Yarbro, will be held Friday, January 23, 2026, 3:00 PM at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service, 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia, NC 28052.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to any local VA support group.
