Ronnie William Cloninger, 78, of Mt. Holly, NC, passed away Saturday, February 17, 2024, at his residence.

He was born December 13, 1945, a native of Gaston Co, NC, son of the late Ernest "Shorty" and Estelle "Henrietta" Cloninger.

Ronnie proudly served in the US Navy. He was an avid fisherman, and was a loving father, grandfather, and uncle. He quietly supported many organizations that helped others, and loved to make people laugh.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Judy Ann Cloninger; brothers, Benny R. Cloninger, and Bobby Gene Cloninger; and granddaughter, Kimberly Cloninger.

Ronnie is survived by his daughters, Kelly Sutton and husband Steve of Mt. Holly, NC, and Amanda Bridges and husband Wayne of Bristol, FL.; grandchildren, Thomas James Bees of Mt. Holly, NC, Benjamin Caleb Spain of Bristol, FL, Cameron Elijah – Ray Spain, and Casey Sean Spain both of Myrtle Beach, SC; and great-grandson, Levi Cloninger.

A funeral service officiated by Rev. Sam Barnette, will be held 2:00 pm, Friday, February 23, 2024, at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service – 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia, NC 28052.

Inurnment will follow the service at Evergreen Cemetery.
