Ronald Spencer Sr.

Ronald Spencer Sr., 73, of Gastonia, passed away Sunday, June 25, 2017, surrounded by loved ones at his daughter's home.

Mr. Spencer was a US Marine who served two tours during the Vietnam War.

He was preceded in death by parents, Elisha and Maude Spencer; son, Ray Wentz; brother-in-law, Bill Tatham; sister-in-law, Carolyn Spencer.

Mr. Spencer is survived by his children, Ronald Spencer Jr., Diana Dyer, Nick Spencer all of Gastonia, Pam Shattles of Hiram, GA, Ashley Garrett of Rutherford County; sisters, Daisy Tatham, Debbie Clanton both of Gastonia; brother, Gene Spencer of Gastonia; seventeen grandchildren; one great-grandson.

The family would like to give special thanks to lifelong friend Cereta Pearson of Gastonia.

A memorial service will be held 4:00pm Thursday, June 29, 2017, at Greene Funeral Service, West Chapel, 216 Archie Whitesides Rd. Gastonia, officiated by Pastor Eric Ross.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home.

Arrangements are with the West Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
