Ronald Joe Houston

Ronald Joe Houston, 85, of Gastonia, NC, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 27, 2023.

He was born in Evansville, IN, on June 9, 1938, to the late Romaine Houston & Geneva Houston Watterson.

Ronald was a member of South Marietta Street Baptist Church in Gastonia where he was also a former Deacon. Ronald served in the United States Navy on the USS Henley DD762. He loved the Lord, family, NASCAR. Ron also worked at Greene Funeral Service for 16 years.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his first wife, Betty F. Houston; sister, Annette J. Reed; brother, Sonny Houston; stepsister, Rosie Watterson; stepfather, Paul Watterson.

Ronald is survived by his wife, Faye Buchanan Houston, daughter, Rheta Houston Chambers (Lloyd); two grandchildren, TC Chambers (Danielle), Kendyl Campbell (Connor); one great grandchild, Stella Houston Campbell; stepbrother, Jim Watterson; numerous nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service officiated by Pastor Tommy Self and Pastor Andrew Morrow will be held Thursday, August 31, 2023 – 3:00PM at South Marietta Street Baptist Church, 911 S. Marietta St. Gastonia, NC. Visitation will be one hour prior at the church. A burial will follow at Gaston Memorial Park.
