Roland Littleton Kinder, Jr.
March 21, 1962 - October 14, 2026
Roland Littleton Kinder, Jr., affectionately known as "Junior," of Gastonia, North Carolina, passed away on October 14, 2026, at the age of 64.
Raised by Luthera Kinder and Roland Littleton Kinder, Sr., Junior grew up in Medina, New York, before settling in Albion, where he and his beloved wife, Waunetta Louise Kinder, built their life together and raised their two sons.
Junior dedicated 37 years to the New York State Department of Transportation, reflecting the strong work ethic that defined much of his life. Outside of work, he was a devoted youth football and baseball coach, sharing his love of sports with generations of young athletes. A lifelong Buffalo Bills fan, he also proudly cheered for the New York Yankees and Chicago Bulls.
For Junior, sports were about much more than the final score. He was the father who never missed a game, always encouraging his boys to work harder and reach higher. Some of the family's favorite memories were made in the driveway, where pickup basketball games with his sons and neighborhood kids became a regular part of growing up.
Known for his stubborn streak and tender heart, Junior was a man who felt deeply and loved generously. That softer side was especially evident with his granddaughters. Weekend visits rarely came without donuts, surprises, or a little something extra to spoil the girls. Those simple traditions became treasured moments that will be remembered for years to come.
Junior is survived by his sons, Derek Nelles Littleton Kinder and his wife, Erin, and Andre Roland Kinder; and his cherished granddaughters, Camela Eloise Kinder and Naomi Francine Kinder. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Waunetta Louise Kinder.
The life Junior and Waunetta built together lives on through their family and the memories they leave behind. He will be remembered for his strong will, generous heart, and the unmistakable way he made his presence felt in the lives of those he loved.
In accordance with the family's wishes, services will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the National Kidney Foundation.
