Roger James Melville

Roger J. Melville October 26th 1930-December 19th 2012 Roger Melville left this world and is now with the Lord and his Mother Mary. He is happy to now be with his departed family members: Wives Joyce and Lois, his son Mark, His Mother Ella and Father Charley, Brother Richard and Niece Sherry. He is survived by his wife Cathy, his son Mike, his daughters- Debbie, Michele and Kate. His Grandchildren- Theresa, Alex and Ellen. His Great-Grandchildren- Caitlin, Christian, Isabella, Noah, Gabriel and Hope. He is also survived by two brothers Lt. Cmdr. Charles W. Melville and wife Gloria, 3 nieces Debbie, Peggy and Heather and Brother John D. Melville and wife Ruth. Roger had a very interesting life; he served in Korea in 1950 with the 2nd Infantry Division, in the 2nd M.P. Company, receiving a number of awards - Combat Infantry Badge, 4 Bronze Battle stars and the Presidential Unit Citation for Bravery. Roger wishes happiness and health to the World, his Country and State. He was State Commander of the American Legion. A Life member of Veterans of foreign Wars, Disabled American Vets and AM Vets. He was also a 50 year member of Knights of Columbus and a Life Long Catholic. Roger's business career consisted of: Store Manager and Regional Manager of " McCrory's Inc. " Zayre's " Piedmont Fabrics Inc. " Cousin Corporation of America. " Owner of Melville's 5 & 10 stores. Roger wanted to remember his Special Friends: His Excellency - The Arch Bishop of Mobile Rev. Rodi Sister Mary Balkus - Sister of St. Casmir, Chicago, Illinois Special Lady - Wife Cathy Melville - Friend, Lover and Sweetheart Special Grandaughter - Theresa Melville, R.N. - Helping others out of pain and misery Our special thanks for the loving care and kindness we received from Gaston Hospice, the staff at Robin Johnson House and the special care provided by Veterans Administration, Charlotte. Garrison Blvd., Gastonia, NC 28054 Greene Funeral Service- South Chapel and Crematorium is servicing the Melville family - 1503 S. York Road, Gastonia, NC 28052 The family will receive friends at Greene Funeral Service, Friday evening, December 21st from 6:00 PM-8:00 PM. A Funeral Service will be held at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Gastonia, N.C. Saturday, December 22nd at 10:30 AM officiated by Father Arnsparger.
