Rodney Calaway

In loving memory of Rodney Calaway.

Rodney was 56 years of age at the time of his death.

He resided in Lincolnton, NC and left this world on Friday, May 15, 2021.

Rodney (Rod Man) was born in Lincolnton, NC on August 8, 1964.

He attended East Lincoln High School and joined the United States Army upon completion of his schooling.

Once discharged from the Army, he became a pipe insulator.

When he was not insulating pipe, he could be found on a roof nailing shingles.

One of his true passions however was cutting trees, usually with no safety gear.

Those that knew Rodney best knew that he was fearless.

In 1986 Rodney fell in love with and married Peggy Sue Gibson.

They were blessed with two wonderful children, Casey and Marci Ann.

In addition to his son, Casey Calaway, and daughter and son-in-law, Marci and Matt Baker, Rodney was survived by his father and step-mother, Charlie Calaway Sr. and Shelby; his mother and stepfather, Janice and Robert Thompson; and younger brother, Charlie Calaway Jr.

In addition, Rodney also had four grandchildren, Marci and Matt's three, Nolen, Landon, and little Paisley; and Casey's son, Jared Eaves.

Rodney was preceded in death by his younger brother, Roger, who passed in 2014; his maternal grandparents, Lander and Christine Nantz; and his paternal grandparents Joe and Margaret Calaway.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
